Mediating teen conflict is hard. When relationships between teens at school break down adults are often bewildered by the magnitude of the fallout. Often dismissed as dramatic, or an over reaction, what adults forget is for the teen this really feels like a survival threat. Most teenagers centre their sense of belonging and community at school. Community = survival in our stone-age brains, and the loss of that community feels intensely threatening. This course will help you understand how to support teens through conflict with their peers, particularly around phone and social media use, and how to manage when neurodiversity is involved. Across 8 self paced modules, teachers or other adults will learn why the emotions are so big, how to help teenagers regulate those emotions and work through conflict with listening skills, practical tips to implement and a clear path to if not repaired friendship, then civility without unkindness or isolation. Mediating teen conflict is hard, but it’s a lot easier when you’ve got skills and tools to use to help you do so.
